With a planned total of 1.3 million square feet of residential, office, retail and commercial space, Dockside Green is noted as one of the most environmentally conscious developments in Canada. A 15-acre planned community, Dockside Green is among the most ambitious urban projects in the world.

Dockside Green is designed to be 3 distinct neighbourhoods in one unique community. It is also designed to be extraordinarily environmentally efficient. One of the early adopters of the LEED Platinum standard, Dockside Green’s development philosophy is based on the principles of smart growth, green building and sustainable community design. When completed, Dockside Green will be one of the most remarkable communities in the world.

The first phase, Dockside Wharf’s three Synergy residences are now completed with the two companion towers, the Balance residences, ready for occupancy in January 2009. Built around a central courtyard plaza, Dockside Wharf is an enclosed community space with a bakery, neighbourhood pub/restaurant and fitness centre. Placed on the shores of the Upper Habour, Dockside Wharf residents can enjoy leisurely water activities like kayaking, boating and fishing, or use the Harbour for convenient transportation to the nearby downtown core. Dockside Green is built beside near the head of the Galloping Goose Regional Trail providing easy walking and cycling access to most of southern Vancouver Island.

Dockside Green promises residents energy efficiencies that exceeds Model National Energy Codes by 45 - 55%.

The second and third phases, Dockside Village and Dockside Commons will be home to residences, offices and light industrial and marine businesses. A community amphitheatre on the Dockside Village commons will form the cultural heart of the three phase project.

“Built by Vancity and Windmill West on fifteen acres of former industrial land on Victoria’s upper harbour, Dockside Green is designed to be a community within the heart of Victoria. Located between the Johnson St. and Bay St. bridges, Dockside Green is minutes from downtown Victoria. Community members will enjoy a variety of on-site amenities including easy access to shopping, car-share co-op memberships, fitness facilities and water based activities.”
